Knickknack

(Hartline 2015) 213 M
[CH 11-65] (Pandora’s Box x Candy Cane)
Grandma’s favorite “Knickknack,” the look of a porcelain figurine, with the resilience of cast iron. This is a tough little glad!  Strong stiff stems make it very sturdy in the wind and rain.  Heavy waxy substance keeps its quality for a long time.  Lovely, light yellow florets have a feathered rose blotch radiating from the heart.  3 inch florets open formally, heads with 22 buds, 7 open and 7 in color, and a field height of 45 inches.  You’ll love Grandma’s “Knickknack” as much as she does!

Named for John’s grand daughter, this glad will dance right to the front with its creamy ivory formal blooms and lovely light yellow glow flowing over the throat.  The lavender anthers and small rose marks deep in the throat give the lightly ruffled florets that “twinkle in the eye” look.  Great healthy, strong, stiff plants, 25 inch spikes of 24 buds, opening 8 with 7 in color will be a delight wherever it’s used.

[KO 00024-3]  (Aztalon X open)  A true pixiola - probably one of the smallest gladiolus marketed in N. A very eye catching novelty, and decorative glad.  Several times on the Court of Honor as best large Decorative.  A cream with a rosy tint, and a huge cherry red blotch on the lower half.  Moderate ruffling, somewhat pointed petal tips, and great substance.  Structure and placement are quite good.  One of my favorites.

Mr Carl Fischer AA

All-America Gladiolus Selection
Crisp waxy 5 inch florets with heavy ruffling are splashed with a medley of colors.  A blend of white, cream, yellow, and red;  the upper petals are creamy white with irregular red marks on the petals, while the lower petals have a medium red blotch superimposed on a large yellow throat which surrounds the red blotch.  True to “Carl Fischer style”,
the overall effect is that of a vanilla ice cream sundae with cherries on top and strawberry syrup dripping down the sides.
